For twenty-two years I worked in Philadelphia as an Artist and Illustrator.
During those years Running Press Co. published four of my illustrated
childrens books under my pen name "Joan Gallup".
The books and the art filled my basket until...
Peanut, my first mini Chihuahua, stepped into it.
And BING, EUREKA, WOW!!!
my creativity turned towards a
devotion to little things.
First, I started designing miniature sweaters for Peanut, (Chihuahuas
get very cold in the winter time), and soon her wardrobe was full.
Meanwhile, we packed up and moved from a large house in the big city
to a little house near a small town.
Thats when miniatures completely took over.
I started with a dollhouse, and then of course, the
dollhouse needed furniture, rugs.....
and the obsession was planted.
I needed some old-fashioned hook rugs for my floors,
and used my skills as an artist and designer to create them
with as much detail and color variation as I possibly could.
And now I've turned my designs into kits so other people can
make them too. Try one - I think you will like the results!
